I grew up in rural Illinois, in a town of 1,600 people, surrounded by 30 miles of corn fields in all directions. I studied English and linguistics at Illinois State University. After graduation, I moved to Chicago to work on the marketing team at Cengage Learning, a global EdTech company, for several years. Meanwhile, I obtained a Certification in Copyediting from UC San Diego.

I moved to Portland, Oregon, in 2015 for a change of scenery. My partner and I — with our son, dog, and two cats — own a century home that I enjoy slowly updating. I love sewing home textiles and tailoring clothing. And I can’t get enough of the coast, forest, and mountain views.

In 2017, I was proud to earn a remote position as a content editor with Aha! product development software. I worked hard to discover the ins and outs of product planning and building. I’m grateful to have learned so much from each cross-functional team.

After six years with Aha!, I found myself ready to pursue other opportunities. I resigned from a great team — to first take some time off to be with my family, recalibrate, and then begin my job search.
